With so many relatively modest income businesses closing around me in Little Rhode Island I feel like the fabric of MY world is coming apart.There was Solitro s Bakery just across from my morning bus stop.I walk past many vacant once charming small business places . Even the not so modest Providence Journal Building and their Production Facility is no more. The palpable community that was part of my sensuous life for years is now GONE WITH THE WIND.Which explains my -like Rhett Butler -late propensity for lost causes. I remember that life size model airplane Piper Cub on the top of the Benny's Store in my Washington Park neighborhood in Providence Rhode Island. Also in that neighborhood today are the haunted buildings that were Collier Bakery and Mason Pharmacy and Burns Brothers Coffee Shop. Also the PAST haunted house on 315 California Ave where my large Ruggieri family lived for some sixteen years. And Broad Street School is no more.The vacant dilapidated building and blighted school yard are still dismally there. At least my beloved Roger Williams Park has not changed much.No wonder my favorite TV Twilight Zone episode is the nostalgia themed Walking Distance.
