Whenever lately I come across this most famous Lovecraft quote I think of the obnoxious New Atheists and their arrogant SCIENCE snobbery and contempt for the accumulated wisdom of all the world 's great religions. And their hubris in rejecting the mystical like the Catholic Church doctrine of the Holy Eucharist. I always had great respect for the practical knowledge gained by the collective efforts of thousands of scientists.But still always humbly aware of " The Outer Limits"!
