The New Atheist Cult leaders might benefit from reading Friedrich Engels argument against Eugen Duhring's anti-Catholic rants

[ "In his work Anti-Dühring, Friedrich Engels criticized Eugen Dühring's approach to religion, specifically his attempts to suppress Catholicism and all religion, which Engels saw as counterproductive. Dühring's methods, according to Engels, were akin to Bismarck's "May laws," which were perceived as discriminatory and oppressive. Engels argued that Dühring's attempts to forcibly ban religion would lead to its martyrdom and prolong its existence, rather than allow it to die a natural death through scientific understanding. Engels believed that Dühring's approach was based on an oversimplified and idealistic view of society, where the focus was on abstract concepts of equality rather than the realities of class struggle and historical development. He argued that Dühring's "phantoms" of two equal men were not real people, but rather abstract creations devoid of the complexities of real life. Engels saw Dühring's idealist approach as detached from the material conditions that shape society and lead to class conflict. In essence, Engels' critique of Dühring's handling of religion highlights a key aspect of Marxist thought: the importance of understanding the material basis of society and avoiding abstract, idealistic solutions to complex problems. He argued that Dühring's interventionist approach to religion was not only ineffective but also counterproductive, as it would strengthen religion rather than lead to its natural decline. " ]
