We democratic socialists know where the charlatan " celebrity "psychiatrist, Dr. Phil , is coming from : Whatever social system smacks of Marxism has been anathema to the American ruling class for more than a century , since the " Ten Days That Shook The World " Russian Revolution of 1917. The profession of psychiatry in the United States has been ideologically corrupted by its entrenched belief that CONFORMITY , adjustment to capitalism constitutes MENTAL HEALTH. How many professional American psychiatrists ever read socialist humanist psychiatrist Erich Fromm's book " The Sane Society " ? With very few exceptions PRIVILEGED people in " OUR democracy " think that a world in which THEY feel comfortable and secure - the world of most " Culture of Narcissism " celebrities, like Dr. Phil - is the best of all possible worlds . In no way was a mere beginning of " socialism " in the old Soviet Union just an " experiment " that failed miserably . The bourgeoisie of the " Free World " were determined to overthrow it or sabotage it or smother it in its infancy. By 1921 Leon Trotsky's Red Army had defeated them -at least temporarily . With almost mathematical logic and cogency Karl Marx proved that capitalist wage slavery was much like ancient slavery . It is based on the EXPLOITATION of human labor and on the political oppression of the working class. Without lies and brutality this system could not survive another day. Even 19th century physics made it clear that you cannot get something ( like the lion's share of the world's wealth ) for nothing . This idea is also formally named the " principle of conservation of energy ".
