Listening to ALL the Talk Radio celebs on 630 WPRO , Rhode Island , Gene , Tara, Mat , Dan , I am beginning to wish that the so called " Cancel Culture " get around to canceling now effete and increasingly brainless - with much buffoonery - TALK RADIO.
Intelligent listeners will sooner or later conclude that year after year they have nothing to learn from the Talk Radio babblers. It is all vacuous celebrity ride to nowhere. One longs for public voices that UNDERSTAND our world , its real history.
The local talk radio celebs spend a lot of air time slobbering over sponsors which undermines their credibility as shapers of public opinion. In now way to they present a VOICE to the public. The host has autocratic control over the callers and the text messages. The callers are more likely to be fans of Gene, Tara, Matt , or Dan. No lack of sycophants among them .
As a longtime independent democratic socialist it is rather obvious to me that individuals selected ( by station management ) are carefully screened for any views that smack of " extremism " or " hate speech " as perceived and defined by the local ruling class.
The late controversial TALK RADIO legend Steve White ( nicknamed " The Captain " ) was a breath of fresh air in being a cut above " respectability " - and all the more interesting listening to him. Despite his scary , goose stepping followers. A good show is a good show !
As a forum for REAL public opinion, Talk Radio is a repressive joke. Find ANY " employable " talk radio host in " OUR democracy " who voices critical views of capitalism, American imperialism, the military budget, Zionist APARTHEID Israel ?
Very few will even take a strong stand against WOKE ideology . And locally , Gene Valicenti fits very much into our " Culture of Narcissism ". ( Weeks before last Christmas Gene challenged his listeners ( they could win a prize ! ) to remember ALL the presents Genial Gene wanted for Christmas ( which included such modest items as a gold watch ) . When Genial Gene is not slobbering over sponsors ,he plays the role of Consumer in Chief in Rhode Island. Always that sick, obnoxious celebrity EGO !
After considering some FAR LEFT comments I made favoring democratic socialism , Gene on the air declared his loyalty to capitalism ( What a surprise ! How courageous ! ) and soon after banned me ( permanently ? ) from texting 630 WPRO.
