Could Providence Mayor Smiley arresting a homeless person be a step in the right direction ?

Providence Smiley seems to be commanding more respect than the former hapless Mayor Elorza. Most of the self-appointed homeless advocates seem to think that some " progressive " Democratic Party attached bureaucrat can if he or she wished miraculously end the public scandal of troubled homeless souls living as a public " nuisance " on state or private property. Oddly enough - and I say this as democratic socialist- having homeless people " arrested " could be a step in the right direction. Mentally ill people should not be considered " free " to act in their own best interests. As a confessed recovered addict Mayor Smiley must have understanding and empathy here. The massive homeless problem in capitalist USA ( including the thousands of migrants )can only have an objectively AUTHORITARIAN solution. So begin by declaring ALL chronic homelessness in this country ILLEGAL. THEN enforce draconian rent controls on all local landlords and absentee landlords. Any human being on state welfare or with a low paying job has a right to decent HOME. Any landlord not complying with draconian rent controls will himself or herself be DISPOSSESSED. The chief obstacle to solving the homeless crisis in the United States - now a major humanitarian crisis that should be brought to the attention of the United Nations- is actually legally sacrosanct landlord-capitalist PRIVATE PROPERTY.
