Way back in my elementary school days at the very beginning of the Russian " Sputnik " scare in October 1957 I would spot books in the school library titled " Your Future in Space " . OUR future in space has been a science fiction fantasy for many decades. It is wonderful that high tech telescopes can show us the colossal fire works display at the BEGINNING OF TIME itself . Can show us early galaxies in the making . But our collective dream of a real SPACE AGE has disappeared down human civilization's own BLACK HOLE. A cult movie of the 1950s was titled " The Man With the X- Ray Eyes. Played by actor Ray Milland , he turns his glowing red eyes toward outer space and sees : A vision of EVIL . He then tore his eyes out ! But we won't blow up the Hubble or the Webb telescopes. The view is at least as entertaining as any USA high spirited Fourth of July night fireworks celebration. To be sure , THE VIEW is mostly cosmic horror NOTHINGNESS. We still have that glorious GOD PARTICLE-only made possible by BILLIONS of dollars for astrophysics research . But no Age of Faith cathedral will ever house it -or WORSHIP it . We humans are not only LOST IN SPACE but LOST IN TIME . How did we ever get so LOST ? Did the PROPHETS of the Old and New Testament know ? The Book of Revelation ?
