So " nobody is above the law " in capitalist USA ?

A hack Democrat Senator here in Rhode Island says vacuously that " nobody is above the law " ( in " OUR democracy , of course ) . The bourgeois legal system forever operates with ILLUSIONS and ABSTRACT legalese drivel. Karl Marx and his followers observed long ago that THE LAW is nowhere in capitalist society above the interests of the ruling class. And you really have to be quite the obtuse scholar to see EQUALITY BEFORE THE LAW as an everyday reality for poor and working class citizens. A walk through the American Gulag might change minds on the majesty of THE LAW. A walk that would even take the eloquent hot air out of one Atticus Finch of " To Kill a Mockingbird " fame. Unlike trained scientists America's lawyers - especially Harvard Law School graduates - are more adept at any sophistry which PERSUADES a jury , WINS a case , than at OBJECTIVE thinking which passionately searches for TRUTH. In general , the capitalist system destroys many once fine intellects and virtuous souls. And yes , just around the age of 30 THE PROCESS is complete. House broken by the capitalist division of labor . But just in time for college graduation the inner philistine is already well polished. After all , that is what " higher education " is all about . If it pays to think so , then 2+2 = 5 ! Ask Winston Smith , the broken rebel in George Orwell's " 1984 ". [ “Our courts have our faults, as does any human institution, but in this country our courts are the great levelers, and in our courts all men are created equal.” This line comes from Atticus's closing argument to the jury at Tom Robinson's trial. ]
