The suicide of Italian immigrant great uncle Carmine Napoletano - An American Tragedy

Scene of my great Uncle Carmine Napoletano's suicide in September 1963 -Narragansett Pier Beach : [ Steve Ruggieri wrote: Excellent find Ron! So he killed himself on Michael’s birthday. As I recall, he left a simple handwritten note in his car that read (in Italian) “Absolutely no flowers!” I just have a gut feeling that there was more to this than depression! Nevertheless, it would make an impactful beginning to a story on an immigrant Italian turned bitter American capitalist… I can imagine some young Irish cop …. through the chilly early morning fog, discovering an abandoned car parked at the wharf in Narragansett, then discovering that note and having to call into the dispatcher for a translation. Then the dredging up of the seaweed covered bloated fish-eaten corpse , weighed down with chipped statues of the blessed virgin … All because somebody stole his coveted pepper biscuit recipe? Talk soon! Steve On Fri, Feb 17, 2023 .
