The DEFUND THE POLICE rhetoric coming from WOKE " progressive " Democrats was false from the beginning. It could have used some solid MARXIST insights on the role of the police in capitalist society. As Mayor Richard Daley -after the 1968 riots at the Democratic National Convention - put it : " The policeman is not there to create disorder. The policeman is there to preserve disorder ". At the root of this terrible DISORDER is the capitalist system of PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHT. How many poor young Blacks , for example , were killed or maimed by cops shortly after some petty crime against some store owner's PRIVATE PROPERTY ? The cops are not picking on Blacks so much as they are defending sacrosanct PRIVATE PROPERTY .
