My hope for SOCIALISM is based on this fact : in a capitalist society where the vast majority of working class people -and more and more of the once solid middle class - are effectively ruined by capitalism and own NOTHING , among them there will be no PRIVATE PROPERTY fanatics.
How does Senator Elizabeth imagine that the vote was an egregious failure of " OUR democracy " ?
"Warren's reference to the filibuster was also perplexing considering a filibuster-proof majority is 60 votes and the bill could not even muster a simple majority, failing by a 51-49 margin.
As a democratic socialist myself - and a PRO-LIFE Catholic - I see that the country is very divided on the matter of re-considering Roe vs. Wade . In ANY "democracy " a party cannot win by one vote or a few votes and then ACT as if it had a mandate.
To be sure , SOCIALISM could only be voted in by an overwhelming majority . You cannot have FUNCTIONAL socialism if slightly less than 50 percent of the American voters don't want it . I think you would need at least a 70 percent majority. Preferably 80 percent .
My hope for SOCIALISM is based on this fact : in a capitalist society where the vast majority of working class people -and more and more of the once solid middle class - are effectively ruined by capitalism and own NOTHING , among them there will be no PRIVATE PROPERTY fanatics.
