Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island

1 comment:

  1. The State of Rhode Island should be more proactive with so many physically challenged senior citizens living alone in their own home or residing in public housing. Is it not obvious that senior citizens needing the Meals on Wheels service may ALSO need help taking out the garbage , going shopping, doing their laundry ? There should be at least a nurse station in every public housing building . Many elderly residents should be monitored more frequently. What happens when their phones are lost or broken ? " THE OFFICE " in these public housing complexes is often CLOSED or coldly unreceptive to " complaints " ( " my toilet does not flush ", " my sink does not drain ", " no heat in my apartment " , " there are mice running around " , " cockroaches " , etc. ) .
The root of the neglect of the elderly - NOT in nursing homes - is always the capitalist social system . To be sure, the frequently understaffed FOR PROFIT nursing homes are also a humanitarian disaster. I hear that the puffed up, adulated former governor Gina Raimondo now Biden's Secretary of Commerce often cut back MEDICAID funds to local nursing homes. And Gina can be blamed for that now INVALID free RIPTA bus pass in my wallet.
