As a DEMOCRATIC socialist I doubt very much if ordinary working class Ukrainians were longing for a dangerous and foolish alliance with effete, moribund, rotting NATO . And I don't think ordinary working class Americans lose sleep over SOVEREIGN UKRAINE. When those 3 million Ukrainian refugees recover from shock they might end up loathing their now very UNDEMOCRATIC president Zelensky more than Big Bad Putin. And speaking of " OUR democracy " : Is our plutocracy on a higher moral level than the Russian oligarchy? Have you had a whiff of our COVID-19 era " democracy " lately ? FREE SPEECH and FREE THOUGHT is still thriving in the USA ? The mainstream news media does not hesitate to tell us BIG LIES about any controversial issue that threatens the interests and the serenity of the American ruling class? OUR CIA , FBI , Pentagon War Machine are devoted everywhere to TRUTH , JUSTICE, and the AMERICAN WAY ? And since the early days of the United States respectful of SOVEREIGN nations on all continents ( like Mexico in 1848 ) . Might there be a moral equivalent for Russia and China( just who decided for us that they were THE ENEMY ? ) of our famous Monroe Doctrine ?
