Adams Library Virtual Tour

  1. " The library is open to RIC Community ONLY " I just read. How long should THE PUBLIC be banned from STATE college and university libraries ? In the DEAD PAST( ? ) I enjoyed visiting the RIC Library and the URI Library ( in Providence and in Kingston ) and using their research resources . At one time they were open to 10:00 AM or even to midnight . Ray Bradbury, the famous fantasy -horror writer , would turn over in his gave if he could witness the decay of the public library system in the United States. The public libraries still open have cramped hours and a moribund atmosphere. I noticed the remodeled Providence Public Library has shut down the whole REFERENCE Dept. Weird ! Few public libraries are browser friendly . Those always kept in the dark book shelves seem to whisper a creepy " LIBRARIES ARE DYING. BOOKS ARE DYING " message. Can DEMOCRACY survive in mental darkness ?
To be sure , the COVID-19 era has made a mockery of whatever is left of " OUR democracy " .
