Why has the once oh-so-anti-Stalinist Left abandoned the great FREE SPEECH , FREE THOUGHT tradition of Western Civilization ? Too many " Marxist " parties now remind me - sadly - of the notorious Church of Scientology with its legion of " Clears " . Whatever their vision of the " socialist future " it comes dangerously close to George Orwell's " 1984 " totalitarian nightmare . How much " democracy " is practiced even in these rather ridiculous " vanguard " parties ? Oddly enough , the " progressive " Democratic Party of the United States ( with its token phony " socialist " members like Zionist Jew Bernie Sanders ) seems more and more STALINIST !
I find David North's World Socialist Web Site and his Socialist Equality Party typical of the decay and degeneration - the intellectual stagnation- of nearly ALL Marxist sectarian parties for more than a century now . No respect here for the FREE SPEECH, FREE THOUGHT tradition of Western Civilization. And arrogant , hateful contempt for Christianity ( still the faith of countless millions of working class people ) which guarantees that they never will lead any mass movement for socialism or be of much use to less ambitious " progressive " causes. I can't imagine ordinary working class people falling for the " official atheism " of the now vanished Stalinist Soviet Union.
Even more pathetic than North's SEP is the Jack Barnes led Socialist Workers Party of the United States- now a virtual pillar of Zionist APARTHEID Israel !
