This book paints a very dark picture of human misery in the Golden Age of American Capitalism. Are the homeless in the USA much better off in 2021 ? Is not capitalism still an exploiting, oppressing economic system ? Will not life once again become " nasty , brutish, and short " unless there is a world wide socialist transformation ?
