" Breaking wind " connects with a old Gregorian Chant : " In the midst of life we are in death "

Note the " colonoscopy " on President Biden. Any medical professional knows that one HUMAN body functions very much like any other human body. I wondered -not a " funny " thought - if it was a symptom of a serious intestinal problem when Biden " broke wind " in the presence of British royalty last week. Ordinary mortals must not imagine that British royalty have similar body functions which sometimes embarrass the most refined among us ? " In the midst of life we are in death ". For Edgar Allan Poe " The Conqueror Worm " was the stuff of Gothic poetry.
[ "Media vita in morte sumus
quem quaerimus adjutorem
nisi te, Domine,
qui pro peccatis nostris
juste irasceris?
Sancte Deus,
sancte fortis,
sancte et misericors Salvator:
amarae morti ne tradas nos.
In the midst of life we are in death
of whom may we seek for succour,
but of thee, O Lord,
who for our sins
art justly displeased? "]
O Lord God most holy,
O Lord most mighty,
O holy and most merciful Saviour,
deliver us not into the bitter pains of eternal death.
