Still a mystery - old friend Donald Plante's death in 1997 , his son Donald Jr. death days earlier

Donald Plante Jr., 22, of Calla, Fla., was charged with domestic assault after he allegedly beat his mother, Diane Plante, 44, of 298 Washington Ave., about 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, police said. Donald Plante also was wanted on warrants charging him with threatening phone calls and malicious mischief.

*Jeremiah J. Plante, 22, of 298 Washington Ave., Providence, was placed on probation for one year after pleading no contest to a University of Rhode Island police charge of resisting arrest. A charge of disorderly conduct was filed for one year, which means it will be expunged from his record if there are no further arrests during that time.

A Washington Park man was robbed by three men - one put a sawed-off shotgun to the victim's throat and another hit him on the head with a pistol - at 890 Allens Ave. about 7 p.m. yesterday, police said.

Donald Plante of 298 Washington Ave., who was not seriously hurt, told police the robbers took an unspecified amount of money and drove off in a green car.
