Read novels for mental health ?

[A truly great novel, Berthoud says, “gets into your subconscious and actually can change your very psyche from within.”] [ Perhaps the novel that most influenced me is " Oh Human Bondage " by Somerset Maugham. Last night I finished reading " The Monster : by Stephen Crane, actually a novella. In times like this it is a relief , is therapeutic to be transported into another person's - even if IMAGINARY - private world . We are all just a moment in time . Our life is a PATTERN ( like that Persian carpet in " Bondage " ) unlike any other life but with so much in common with the lives of millions of fellow human beings . Infinite capacity in each for GOOD and EVIL in a universe where wonderful things happen and terrible things happen. And ONLY God knows THE MEANING OF IT ALL . Our brilliant cosmologists never get beyond the BIG BANG and QUANTUM FOAM !] Read a Novel: It's Just What the Doctor Ordered TIME.COM Read a Novel: It's Just What the Doctor Ordered Reading fiction can improve your mental health
