" Creation , Evolution , Catholicism " by Thomas L. McFadden

I just a read an interesting , intellectually respectable review of this book titled " Creation, Evolution, and Catholicism " by Thomas L. McFadden in Catholic Family News ( December 2017 ) . It does seem to me that HUBRIS describes the spiritual state of modern science. Dennis Q. McInerny writes in his review : " In many instances they [ believing Catholics ] " are dealing with passionate TRUE BELIEVERS of the type memorably described by Eric Hoffer " . On the political Left these TRUE BELIEVERS have an impulse to join sectarian Marxist-Leninist-Trotskyist parties, also infallible , all -knowing , and also very wrong headed , and worse containing the seeds of totalitarianism . Could the human institution of modern science find a more obnoxious voice than celebrity astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson ? He publicly ridicules the Catholic Holy Eucharist ancient ritual then suggests with other secular high priests of the BIG BANG that we gasp in a wonder at a COMPREHENSIBLE universe that emerged out of quantum foam nothingness . More and more as useful as it is in practical everyday life SCIENCE is becoming another god that failed. The " finding God " instinct in normal human beings will always be very strong . Unlike Carl Sagan in " Cosmos " we are not over-impressed with WHAT HYDROGEN ATOMS CAN DO after billion of years of godless evolution ( they can annihilate whole cities ! ) . On this profound need for God read the great Russian writers Tolstoy and Dostoevsky .
