The original sin of the socialist movement in the 21st century

Peggy Noonan: Trump’s Nonstop ‘Harum-Scarum’ Is ‘Exhausting’

A democratic socialist myself, I was very impressed and touched yesterday reading a chapter in Peggy Noonan's book titled " John Paul The Great " : " We want God " .

The pope's dramatic visit to " godless communism " Poland back in June 1979 indeed " changed the boundaries of the world " .

Just a quick reflection : the original sin of the socialist movement of the 21st century was its open hostility to Christianity and to Catholicism in particular. At the very beginning of the victorious Russian Revolution in 1917 the pre-Stalinist Bolshevik party under Lenin and Trotsky declared their state " officially atheist " . How did that smell in still Catholic Europe ?

For all Trump's flaws he does not banish God from " OUR democracy " - like the " progressive " liberals in the Democratic Party . Every smear against him gets a pass in the mainstream news media.

Don't people of FAITH constitute THE MASSES ? I suspect they are indeed the Moral Majority.

" ... our activities designed to atheize the youth not only cannot diminish but must intensely develop ... ( Polish communists ) .

" The government also issued instructions to Polish media to censor and limit the pope's comments and appearances " ( Peggy Noonan ) .

The ILLIBERAL LIBERAL Democrats are becoming enemies of the FREE SPEECH and FREE THOUGHT tradition of Western Civilization. Again and again on college campuses conservative speakers are harassed or cancelled.

The old Left and traditional liberalism would be ashamed of the activist Democrats today.
