Teachers and professors with the gift of intellectual integrity are an endangered species in the American Way of Life. If you have a public voice, any politically incorrect thought can get you fired and blackballed.
In the past when certain socialist writers- like Irving Howe- deplored the passing of once " liberal " civility - respect for FREE THINKING and the FREE SPEECH tradition of " Western Civilization " ( God forbid, mention THAT in today's neo-liberal circles) - they were not just acting as " Intellectuals in Retreat " . Look what you get when young students do NOT respect " free speech "- the fascist mob !
GROUP THINK betrays any " revolutionary " or even reformist cause.
Forget about ordinary working class people achieving that state of " CLEAR " as determined by any self-appointed political or intellectual elite.
If you are a real revolutionary type , human robots should scare you.
