Why the college educated can't even IMAGINE a better social order

Ten years after Lehman: New financial crises in the making

"One of the most striking features of his Brookings paper is its exposure, no doubt inadvertent, of the lack of any coherent understanding of the workings of the capitalist economy at the highest levels of the institutions that supposedly preside over it. "
It does take millions of highly " educated " individuals- mostly college and university graduates - to run the capitalist economy of the United States.

What continues to amaze any lifelong socialist is how so few of these highly educated individuals were ever exposed to really critical thinking about the nasty nature of capitalism. They remain -all their working lives? - blind to the misery it causes , blind to all the daily exploitation and oppression of MILLIONS which produces all that immense wealth- which they think only reflects their magnificence in the American Way of Life.

Sad to see bright young people - so proud of their " education "- but unable even to IMAGINE a very different social order.

A modern literary equal of Charles Dickens might compose a story of a "Scrooge" like capitalist realizing before it is too late : " I Was Oblivious ! " That might save a few souls lost to greed.
