Discussion on World Socialist Web Site

060 UK Labour NEC adopts anti-Semitism definition

[It is contemptible but utterly unsurprising that Jeremy Corbyn prioritised and fought for the right of anti-Semites to describe the world’s only Jewish state as racist in a meeting supposedly about combating anti-Semitism. It is now even more clear that Jeremy Corbyn is part of the problem not the solution.” ]

Living in paranoid of fear of being branded " anti-Semitic " by a formidable mainstream news media has paralyzed thought on the Left about a long growing cancer in its internal politics .

Why should the Marxist definition of THE STATE not apply to Israel ? Everywhere THE STATE exists to defend private property and privately owned natural resources and the technical means of production. There may or may not be in any particular state a predominant ethnic or racial group.

Israel is no exception . But today a JEWISH state even sounds like an anachronism . Do Jews all over the world live in some eternal fear of pogroms and persecution ? Christians everywhere don't preach " Love Thy Neighbor " whoever may be thy neighbor ?

It is unfair to brand Islam as a religion of hate. Taken literally ALL the holy books of the world's major religions are scary.

For a century Jewish intellectuals were known for their cosmopolitan , humanist , often international socialist ideas. After Israel's " glorious " victory in the 1967 war many of these intellectuals became besotted with toxic nationalism - no more rational and right than that of Nazi Germany. True Biblical idolatry !

In his auto-biography " Uncle Tungsten " the famous neurologist Oliver Sacks describes the Zionists collecting funds in his neighborhood in England as " bullies ".

We should hear more from prominent Jews like Oliver Sacks on the topic of Zionism. Let the fanatics call them " self-hating ".
