The Pope seems to be wallowing in the very-un-Catholic theory of COLLECTIVE GUILT . Only the upper clergy of bishops and cardinals were able to hide the scandal of a very sick MINORITY of Catholic priests unworthy of their vocation. Most lower Catholic clergy are 99% Ivory Soap pure -on the side of the angels.
Are there any RECENT scandals ? I suspect certain DNC based " liberals " want the latest news media hysteria over child predator priests to influence the next choice of Supreme Court judge .
Bismarck persecuted the Catholic Church in 19th century Prussia because he ( rightly ) perceived it to be a damper on growing German nationalism . The really big SIN of the American Catholic Church is its frequent blessing of U.S. militarism- not pulp fiction worthy priest sex scandals. I expect any AMERICAN Catholic Supreme Court judge to be as " patriotic " as other non-Catholic members of the highest court in the land. Not to my delight !
