A major theme of articles in the World Socialist Web Site in recent months - covering the new " sexual McCarthyism " - has been the mockery of justice in " guilt by allegation ". I have read reports by honest psychiatrists explaining " false memory " and power of suggestion on children made to recall obscene incidents - real or imagined - with Catholic priests. Recognize the WITCH HUNT even here.
At least we must LISTEN to the defense here in any particular case. INNOCENT individuals have been ruined !
The Catholic Church in the United States has a sordid history of adapting itself and its educational institutions to the ruling class. In the past it never hesitated to BLESS imperialist wars -even siding in strike breaking . It is easy to see how this rots the minds and souls of the more simple minded clergy
In identifying themselves with the privileged class ( after all , they ARE the law ! ) some priests-like Old South slave masters- imagined that they had " claims " on innocent children. No doubt their minds had been warped in early adolescence by extreme sexual repression ( sex is dirty , even masturbation is a mortal sin ) . To be sure , these priests had no gift for chastity- whether they were by inclination homosexual or heterosexual . Shocked Catholics at least agree that their " vocation " was a disastrous mistake.
Like the upper class sex predators so much in the news lately the damnable GUILTY priests had privileged access to the individuals for whom they lusted. And the dumb TRUST of families .
A nest of child molesters sheltered by the Catholic Church is a horror indeed. That does not mean that any child molester is beyond curing , that he is a worthy target of any lynch mob or rightfully tortured or murdered in prison , or should be forever homeless and abused himself, or confined to " shelters " like Harrington Hall in Cranston making whole neighborhoods tremble for the safety of the children.
Children are best protected from all sorts of EVIL by a COMMUNAL living system - where they are always under the watchful eyes of many " mothers " and " fathers " and " brothers " and " sisters ". (To be sure , no child here would be left alone in a hot car )
The mothers I know would never leave their kids ALONE with any strange male or female - in whatever priestly or religious garb. But what free choice do most nuclear family mothers have today ? They desperately need HELP !
