Is the ACA the greatest blessing that " liberal " Democrats and capitalist " democracy " can bestow on working class Americans ?
To be sure , it was from the beginning miserable compromise and a blessing to big insurance companies. It was a long way from Senator Ted Kennedy's vision of medical care as a basic human right . FOR PROFIT medicine makes health care a COMMODITY- whatever shade of lipstick on the oinking pig.
So the " liberal " Democrats - still the party of " Wall St. Hillary " - should stop play acting as the champions of the have-nots- in the USA. In a radio interview this morning ( 630 WPRO ) Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse voiced his objections to conservative judge Brett Kavanaugh.
Then newsman Gene Valicenti questioned Whitehouse about the rise of " democratic socialists " - like Bernie Sanders-in the Democratic Party . Sheldon - who is commendable on " global warming " - exonerated Sanders as an asset to the Democratic Party and a " known commodity " ( no escape from capitalist notions ! ) while pretending that the very phrase " democratic socialism " was meaningless to him.
Well, to begin with DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISM would not tolerate a Supreme Court completely subservient to the American plutocracy . Nor would it perpetuate the same TWO PARTY system that protects entrenched wealth in the USA .
Senator Whitehouse correctly perceives that Bernie Sanders is hardly a major threat to the capitalist status quo . Perhaps those other " democratic socialists " in the Democratic Party need to be housebroken or lectured on " reality " ?
The controversy over Brett Kavanaugh only proves that THE LAW in all its majesty is not above the class struggle.
