I commend Cardinal Sean O'Malley for speaking for the ancient UNIVERSAL Catholic Church . You would think that the monotheism of the Jews was the key to peace on earth. There is nothing sacrosanct about national borders. Does NATURE - Darwinian NATURE - respect national boundaries anywhere . What national boundary could stop The Black Death of the 14 Century ? Or even migrating herds of bison ? Great Caesar tried to stop the Helvetians desperately entering Gaul . Genocide is rarely completely successful.
We need a porous border between the United States and Mexico . But also an economic order that promotes population equilibrium . For 1000 Mexicans that want to come here there should be 1000 Americans wanting to settle at least for a few years in Mexico.
It was Imperial America that created this difference in relative prosperity between us and Mexico.
