Letter: Vincent Borrelli: Athletes should make point without dishonoring flag

I await an interesting NFL Sunday . Why should my good opinion of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots change on the basis of whether they stand or kneel for the Star Spangled Banner ?

 I would prefer that this National Anthem be replaced by Aaron Copeland s' " Fanfare for the Common Man " . 

But ordinary emotional intelligence is an excellent guide to appropriate behavior in national sports spectacles. 

I do hope the Sky God ( read Gore Vidal ) blesses the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox . Both teams make their fans nervous. Is not ON YOUR KNEES a more prayerful position ?
