Celebrity scientist Neil De Grasse Tyson injects toxic nationalism into his science lectures

There was an unflattering article on astrophysicist Neil De Grasse Tyson the week of the " March for Science " in the World Socialist Web Site.

While Tyson is commended for defending Science against those whom Isaac Asimov called " The Armies of the Night " this celebrity scientist injects more than a dose of toxic nationalism and reactionary " patriotism " and even greedy capitalism in his make-a-buck public lectures.

A few years ago he gratuitously insulted Catholics for their belief in the Holy Eucharist as the body and blood of Jesus Christ. Albert Einstein was respectful of this holy mysticism . And the astronomer Carl Sagan was far to the left of Tyson . Sagan smuggled " Trotsky " into Russia shortly after the collapse of the Soviet Union. He noted a revival of superstition and pseudo-science in now capitalist Russia.

I am sure Tyson has no quarrel with American capitalism.
