Youth turn to fascism in France ? But the pseudo-Left scorns New Testament Christianity

Fascist movements have had no problem recruiting young people in the past. They are usually recruited from the nervous, anxious, ruined but still relatively privileged middle class. They begin with hysterical screeching for " law and order " and loud support for their beloved police.

Of course, if civilization itself breaks down there is no hope for social justice or human progress. I note that one pillar of decency - traditional religion - has been vilified by " identity politics " and political correctness for decades now.

The collapse of the Soviet Union about 25 years ago left an ideological vacuum on the left. Is it possible not to believe in God but to worship money and capitalism ? And scoff at History as bunk ?

The New Right seems to be inspired by a vicious and vacuous nihilism .

To be sure , New Testament Christianity was at least an antidote to this dark force.

The collapse of the Soviet Union in no way validated Ayn Rand Thought and " The Virtue of Selfishness ". The Marxist view of capitalism now seems more correct than at any time in the past .

What does the capitalist way of life promise youth ? Endless war and economic misery ? And the poisoning of the planet ?
