There was no reason for any democratic socialist to object to state
recognition of gay " marriage " .But the Church had a right not to
recognize it.Indeed the old Baltimore Catechism did not recognize as
valid -in the eyes of Holy Mother Church-ANY civil marriage outside the
Church.
Also, the campaign for gay marriage scorned the popular vote. It was one of the most intellectually dishonest campaigns in history.
There was no clamor for " gay marriage " in very gay ancient Greece.
In any future " socialist " society marriage will be a private or a religious affair -with no state " benefits " involved.
What would " atheist "-or agnostic Charles Darwin think about gay marriage ? Not good for the survival of the species ?
" Progressive " New Atheists are the poorest excuse for " intellectuals " in this century. A long way from Bertrand Russell, Carl Sagan, and Isaac Asimov- all three very much on the left too( they also had better manners than often publicly drunken Christopher Hitchens).
I can't imagine Russell , Sagan or Asimov calling Catholic Mother Teresa a " moral monster ".
