I commend this black athlete's social intelligence- but....

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color... "

I commend this athlete's social conscience. But it is mistaken in thinking that race -not class - explains police brutality and the economic despair of working class black people.

But in general , respect for social rituals is just a sign of " emotional intelligence ". I would not wear a Red Sox cap at Yankee Stadium.

"Colin Kaepernick again didn’t stand during the national anthem. He wasn’t alone this time."
