It would be outrageous for the U.S. government to deliver this
innocuous, well meaning Muslim cleric to the increasingly corrupt and
authoritarian Erdogan regime in Turkey.
Whatever is going on in terms of intrigue is truly Byzantine. The man is at least on talking terms with always vilified ( in these countries ) leaders of Israel.
And Turkey has a horrible reputation for prison brutality .
