Just for the record : my " political science " course was rather
practical. I was a presidential elector for the Socialist Workers Party
in Rhode Island in the same election year ( 1980 ) that Senator Bernie
Sanders of Vermont was an elector for this still respectable SWP in
Vermont.
In the early 70s I was also an elector ( " fellow traveler " ) for the American Communist Party. The local leader of CPUSA here was persecuted by HUAC. He fought with the Abraham Lincoln Brigade in Spain in the 1930s.Before proud communist John Hovan died at age 90 + he was honored by present government of Spain.John Hovan's story was on the front page of the Providence Journal.
So much for my " political education ". Socialists Bertrand Russell and Erich Fromm were also an inspiration.
