This is Memorial Day weekend 2016. The above article makes me wonder
about a Ray Bradbury inspired yet unwritten WEIRD TALE : " Memorial Day
for Books ". A senior citizen in the habit of using local college
libraries in the summer I was shocked to descend to the ground floor of the
Rhode Island College Adams Library and seeing vast spaces of empty book
shelves. I love the new computer technology which makes easier the
tedious research of the past. But BOOKS should still be treated with
respect. " The soul of this place is gone ", I thought.
