There is clear contradiction between the Bernie Sanders' " political
revolution " in the streets and the magnitude of the Hillary Clinton
primary victory in New York.
Supporters of Sanders cannot make a leap of faith into the status quo camp of Hillary Clinton. There is a very principled difference between " democratic socialism " and the values of neo-Democrat American politicians.
Even as a registered Democrat in Rhode Island I did not hesitate to vote for Ralph Nader twice. I will certainly vote for Bernie Sanders in the Rhode Democratic Primary. There is no reason to believe that Sanders could " push Hillary to the left ". Indeed Sanders himself sounds much more like an FDR New Deal liberal.
If Sanders is deeply committed to real " democratic socialism " he might still inspire the creation of a third party- similar to the British Labor Party.
Should he endorse Hillary- unconditionally , I think many of his supporters will " discover " Jill Stein, the presidential candidate of the Green Party. Jill has a friendly attitude toward Bernie Sanders but a completely negative attitude toward the establishment of the Democratic Party.
Did the party hacks in New York City simply " rig " the primary vote for Hillary Clinton ? We need more honest journalism to investigate this. Of course, fear of Donald Trump is a factor in Hillary Clinton support.
How did the new younger voters vote there ?
