My own view about the rottenness of our mostly FOR PROFIT medical
system has been confirmed by my accompanying a woman friend and neighbor
,age 74, with metastasized breast cancer, for radiation treatments.
Why do so many medical doctors have a haughty, condescending attitude
even toward their most intelligent and informed patients ? The
insensitivity of the " system " as a whole is mind boggling. The other
night I witnessed my female friend spitting up significant amounts of
blood . The next day the radiation doctor denied that the treatment had
anything to do with it. Today another doctor laughed at this "
self-defense ". A " world class " cancer center was advertised in "
Oprah Magazine ". My friend called the center and was quickly brushed
off: they did not take Medicare patients without private insurance.
Obamacare is a pathetic substitute for Senator Ted Kennedy's dream of health care as a basic human right. In capitalist America human rights are subordinate to the rights of MONEY.
For ordinary Americans our health care system stinks. And I wish American medical doctors were as competent as they are arrogant- and overpaid.
