A relic of the British class system - expel low wage workers ?

As a democratic Socialist I find this an appalling -and mindless-a relic of the peculiarly British CLASS system. Blatant snobbery would be just socially unacceptable in the United States. Before teachers were unionized they would have laughed at the notion that your paycheck best indicates your contribution to society . And what if you are a part time nursing assistant taking care of elderly people in nursing homes ?
Dumb racism- in the form of Islamophobia- outwits ordinary capitalist greed. The Labor Party should simply demand a LIVING WAGE for every immigrant worker in the country.
Socialism would make possible a rational division of labor and a just distribution of the " surplus value " created by capitalist exploitation of the working class.
Why not also revive the Poor Laws, Debtor Prison, the whole Dickensian world of " Oliver Twist " ?
What THEY want more ?
