As a democratic Socialist I can honestly say that Vincent " Buddy "
Cianci was not my cup of tea- with all his great human qualities. But I
will never forget the hypocrisy of the INTEGRITY in City Hall campaign
against him in his " Last Hurrah " election. For me there is a more
illuminating CLASS view of corruption. The political SYSTEM is
inherently corrupt.
In the final scene of " The Last Hurrah " thanks are given by the " corrupt " Mayor( played by Spencer Tracy ) to an old pal " for a thousand laughs ".
I can thank the very human ex-mayor of Providence too ... " for a thousand laughs ".
