To say the least, French president Hollande disappoints me as a not
too bright, personally corrupt , pro-capitalist, pro-imperialist,
pro-war, anti-working class SOCIALIST. More than 100 years ago the Great
War, the war to end all wars, the war to make the world SAFE FOR
DEMOCRACY began. It began with an act of terrorism, the assassination of
some worthless Arch-Duke.
But the real reasons for the war were revealed by the Russian Bolsheviks after the glorious 1917 Revolution.
" We will be merciless ", says Holland . And " ruthless " he adds with Wilsonian blather.
Well, Paris last night night looked a little like an ordinary weekend in Baghdad .
Jeb Bush - of the beloved Bush family-just said -trembling with war fever- that THIS was the war for our time. Meet the NEW WAR- SAME AS THE OLD WAR.
The new war will not make the world safe from terrorism anymore than the old war , the Great War, made it safe for democracy.
Where in the " civilized " world do ordinary people get to choose THEIR enemies ?
Can you imagine any working class American soldier willing to die in Iraq or Afghanistan for the principles of Gloria Steinem FEMINISM ? NO GLASS CEILINGS IN CORPORATE AMERICA-and Hillary in the White House-as our next president.
