Another bloody massacre : Thank God for the shopping malls !
So many mass killings raise a very existential question that I can imagine the famous French writer Albert Camus asking: Is life in general MEANINGLESS for these disturbed ANGRY YOUNG MEN ? Have they absorbed the nihilistic message implicit even in round- the- clock capitalist advertising ? Will empty headed consumerism some day culminate in a final nightmare of mass suicide ? In rejecting the existence of a Supreme Being is the New Atheism offering us a meaningless universe -with no moral compass whatever ? Camus' " Myth of Sisyphus " begins with a shocking assertion : the only really important philosophical question is suicide ? Science offers us only the IDIOT god of eternal matter in motion. But the Russian novelist Dostoevsky is a lot deeper in having a character in " The Possessed " conclude : " If God does not exist, then everything is permitted ". Well, just read the newspapers.
