The Catholic Pope is right in seeing that religious EXPRESSION is
under attack in this " land of the free and home of the brave ".
However, nothing is more sickening for this democratic Socialist than
hearing right wing Republicans- many of them waving Ayn Rand banners-
associating themselves with the RIGHT TO LIFE .
What does this Republican Congress really represent to working class Americans ?
But separation of church and state is a reminder that the Church no longer wields the Sword of Constantine.All the better for the truly UNWORLDLY Catholics.
I myself have no objection to state " gay marriage ". But a little cynicism is called for here. It will be big business for divorce lawyers !
Another observation : state jobs are too narrowly defined. A state employee should be free for different or more stimulating routines. ANY job routine rots the brain. Ask an old beatnik.
