My brother Mike is a retired RIPTA bus driver. Some years ago a maniac driver drove into his Chalkstone Ave. RIPTA bus.The picture of the accident was in the Providence Journal.
But in recent years RIPTA has been abusing its bus drivers--making them behave like robots. That was the case also last May when poor 31 year old Bobbie Moore of Coventry was crushed under a Broad St. RIPTA bus in South Providence. Could not the bus driver just stop the bus ,hearing the shocked screams of passengers ?
RIPTA should be accused of vehicular homicide. The above story suggests the very same problem. Was the bus driver instructed not to move the bus ? Ask Barbara Polichetti or rising star ( really the Gordon Fox of Warwick ) Scott Avedisian.
