Anyone concerned about our
failing mental health system will welcome this long overdue " summit "
at the Radisson Hotel in Warwick on June 8. The routine incarceration of
the mentally ill is nothing less than a crime against humanity. Yes,
doctors should not forget that the mentally ill have bodies too just as
psychiatrists often forget that they have souls too.
Opioid addiction would be helped by long term care-not evicting addicts the day after they " recover " from an overdose.
I knew a mentally ill person whose jaw was swollen from infected teeth. He never lived to get this treated.
