Even leaving " propaganda out of the equation ", there is one truth that is above politics : in nature and human civilization there are LIMITS TO GROWTH. In nature beyond a definite limit all exponential growth is simply " cancerous ". The human population cannot double several more times again -every 35 years. The U.S. economy or any other national economy cannot grow and PROSPER indefinitely. Global capitalism must be replaced by a truly sustainable economy . The American Way of life is doomed . Math students are introduced to " exponential growth " in second year Algebra. Elementary calculus gets deeper into the topic with the concept of " instantaneous rates of change ". For me that simple equation of exponential growth ( with the e-factor ) was every bit as scary and ominous as Einstein's famous E=mc(squared ).
