I completely support the efforts of the Service Employees
International Union to improve working conditions in hospitals and
nursing homes. Even the best of these nursing homes are sad, sorry-often
understaffed- places ( today the vultures are looking at Bannister
House in South Providence ).
Of course, it is right to guard Medicare and Medicaid funds. to uncover fraud and abuse. But the SAVED money must be keep in the budget for more sensible purposes- like more decent pay for unionized workers. The SEIU often has no alternative but militant action-like strikes.
