The Catholic Church and anti-Semitism

This may be a great contribution to honest scholarship on an immense subject: the Jewish Holocaust. But I recall a controversial play way back in 1963 making a dramatic case against Pope Pius XII, condemning him for a cold indifference to the plight of European Jews. The play was titled " The Deputy " , written by Rolf Hochhuth.
But a reviewer of " The Pope and Mussolini " ( Saul Friedlander ) was being rather ridiculous when he wrote that the book is " a natural sequel to the author's preceding studies of the Catholic Church's massive contribution to anti-Semitism ".
The Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky ( a Jew ) blamed anti-Semitism on the decay of capitalism -which , of course, made a major contribution to the rise of fascism.
Hitler ranted frequently about those pernicious MARXIST Jews who were certainly not in any conspiracy with the Roman Catholic Church.
One wonders if the author has an anti-Catholic agenda. Is not Zionist Israel making a massive contribution to MODERN anti-Semitism ? Is hostility to Jewish billionaires like the Koch brothers anti-Semitism ? Is sympathy for the Palestinians anti-Semitism ?
