Science illiteracy at Providence Journal Editorial

I just read Peter Glanz's published letter (Nov.17): "Science is all about probing, questioning." True enough, but does Mr. Glanz apply his own non-scientist gift of probing- open mindedness to ecological catastrophe caused by the very human activity of global capitalism? Does he question the social premises of the capitalist profit system? Or does Ayn Rand's atheist, "objectivism" suffice here?

Science is NOT about  never  arriving at definite conclusions, Mr. Glanz. It is perfectly clear-except to the willfully ignorant, that SCIENCE has indeed arrived at definite conclusions about human made climate change on this planet. And it would be disastrous to await for more confirming reports.

Only a bigger fan of the energy corporations than of "probing" SCIENCE would want to spread skepticism on global climate change. I suspect that you have a friend in Edward Achorn in his unfortunate position as Providence Journal editorial page editor. Is HE a science illiterate too? I wonder. Well, I hope he at least READS my letter before wisely deciding not to publish it (and others on the same topic– a bad career move! ).
