Father John Corapi left stench in the Church

In the early 2000s a gifted preacher, Father John Corapi, was a super-star on EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network.) He was popular with conservative Catholics because he fulminated against "feel good Catholicism". But he secretly wallowed in the profits of his fiery  anti-Feel Good Catholicism TV ministry.

Like the soon to be sainted TV Catholic preacher, Fulton J.Sheen, he could draw a big and enthusiastic crowd-up to 10,000 fans filling auditoriums.

But when Father John Corapi's secret very FEEL GOOD life- involving illicit sexual relationships with prostitutes and COCAINE- was discovered by his order, The Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity, Corapi's days of saintly celebrity were over. He soon left the priesthood under a very dark cloud. For a while he waged war on the leaders of the Church in his weird and sinister "Black Sheep Dog" blog.

Conservative Catholics were stunned and, of course, felt betrayed. Father Corapi had been ordained by the sainted Pope John Paul II. And beside him at the ceremony in Rome was none other than the sainted Mother Teresa. The occasion inspired a VISION in the new priest: he sees Mary, the Mother of God, as she appeared at Fatima to three innocent children in 1917. He can smell the beautiful smell of lilacs in his VISION.

But in fact Father Corapi's VISION of Mary in his TV ministry was quite different. He endeared himself to the vulgar American patriot post 9/11 by presenting to his duped fans a Militarist Mary who "wears combat boots"!

I am a bit of a sucker for Catholic nostalgia myself. But I have no patience with God and Country rot. I did not know anything about Father Corapi's private PIG life. But I KNEW right there and then that his soul was corrupt and depraved.

MY VISION of the Church is the UNWORLDLY, MYSTICAL ONE. Any saints still around today do not endear themselves to the powerful. And they live more like St. Francis than all the fat, drunk, and depraved PRINCES OF THE CHURCH!
